Faith Lucy Tilly Faulconbridge, geboren 1928, gestorben am 24. Oktober 2017,[1] war die erste Frau von J. R. R. Tolkiens Sohn Christopher.[2]
Faith Faulconbridge studierte Englisch am St Anne’s College in Oxford und später Bildhauerei an der Oxford City Art School.[2] Am 2. April 1951 heirate sie Christopher Tolkien,[3] 1959 kam der gemeinsame Sohn Simon zur Welt.[4] 1964 trennten sich Faith und Christopher,[5] 1967 folgte die Scheidung.[2]
Faith Faulconbridge fertigte eine Büste ihres Schwiegervaters her, die 1958 von der Royal Academy in London ausgestellt wurde.[6] Als 1966 die Englisch-Fakultät der Universität Oxford eine solche Gipsbüste für ihre Bibliothek erwerben wollte, ließ Tolkien einen Bronzeabguss erstellen,[7] der im November des Jahres feierlich enthüllt wurde.[8]
