Der Verlag wurde 1996 von der schweizerischen Tolkiengesellschaft [[Eredain]] begründet, die die Buchserie nach dem Titel ihrer Treffen Cormare, also ''Ringtag'' (ein Feiertag, der später in [[Mittelerde]] zur Erinnerung an die Ringzerstörung eingeführt wurde und auf [[Frodo Beutlin]]s Geburtstag fiel) nannte.
