Wayne Gordon Hammond, geboren am 11. Februar 1953 in Cleveland im US-Bundesstaat Ohio, ist Autor und Herausgeber mehrerer Werke über und von J. R. R. Tolkien.

Biographie

Wayne G. Hammond ist der Sohn von Wayne Gordon Hammond, Sr. und Luella Belle Thauvette. Er studierte Englisch am Baldwin-Wallace College in Berea, wo er 1975 den Grad eines Bachelor of Arts erreichte, sowie Bibliothekswissenschaften an der Universität von Michigan, wo er im Jahr darauf als Master of Arts abschloss. Seitdem arbeitet er als Assistant Librarian an der Chapin Library of Rare Books am Williams College in Williamstown im US-Bundesstaat Massachusettes.

Im Jahr 1994 heiratete er Christina Scull, die er bei einem Treffen der Tolkien Society kennengelernt hatte. Wayne G. Hammond veröffentlichte verschiedene Arbeiten über Tolkien und gab mehrere Schriften Tolkiens heraus, darunter die Jubiläumsausgaben von Bauer Giles von Ham und Der Herr der Ringe.

Auszeichnungen

Für seine Werke über Tolkien wurde Wayne G. Hammond mehrfach mit dem Scholarship Award der Mythopoeic Society ausgezeichnet.
