Das vierte Zeitalter ist das letzte bekannte und von J.R.R. Tolkien beschriebene Zeitalter.

63 König Éomer von Rohan stirbt, sein Sohn Elfwine wird sein Nachfolger.
120 König Elessar von Gondor stirbt, sein Sohn Eldarion besteigt den Thron.
172 Das rote Buch der Westmark wird in Gondor von Findegil, dem königlichen Schreiber vollendet. Dies ist das letzte von J.R.R. Tolkien verzeichnete Ereignis in Mittelerde.

-The Fourth Age was held to have begun with the passing of the Ring-bearers over the sea from Mithlond on 29 September 3021 (Third Age), though in Gondor it was reckoned as beginning on 25 March of the same year (the second anniversary of the Downfall of Barad-dûr).
-Buckland and the Westmarch are officially incorporated into the Shire.
-Death of King Éomer of Rohan; he is succeeded by his son Elfwine.
-Death of King Aragorn II Elessar of Gondor; he is succeeded by his son Eldarion.
-A copy of the Red Book of Westmarch is completed in Gondor by Findegil, the King's Writer. This is the last event chronicled by Tolkien.
