The Eagle and Child ist ein Pub, in dem sich J. R. R. Tolkien zwischen den 30er und 60er Jahren immer Dienstags mit den Inklings im Rabbit Room traf.

Von J. R. R.Tolkien und C. S. Lewis wurde der Pub gewöhnlich nur "The Bird and the Baby" genannt.

Im Extrazimmer des Pubs erinnert eine Plakette mit folgendem Text an die Treffen der Inklings:

THE INKLINGS Until 1963 the great writers of the "Inklings", C. S . Lewis, J. R. R. Tolkien, Charles Williams and others, met regularly on this spot. The conversations that have taken place here have profundly influenced the development of 20th century English literature.
