Blind Guardian ist eine Metal-Band aus Krefeld, die sich auf sehr melodischen, teils bombastischen Metal spezialisiert hat und deren Hauptinspiration im Fantasy-Genre liegt. In ihren Songs stellt die Band seit ihrem ersten offiziellen Album (Battalions of Fear, von 1988) wiederkehrend inhaltliche Bezüge zum Tolkien-Universum her.
Das 1998 erschienene Album Nightfall in Middle-Earth ist ein Konzept-Album, in dem das Silmarillion vertont wurde.
