Chris Smith (* 1964) ist seit 1999 Tolkien-Lektor bei HarperCollins. Er gab zahlreiche Bücher über Peter Jacksons Der Herr der Ringe-Filmtrilogie heraus, so z. B. die Filmbücher von Gary Russell und Jude Fisher. Bekanntheit erlangte er vor allem mit dem Buch Der Herr der Ringe: Waffen und Kriegskunst, dass das Design der Waffen, Rüstungen und unzähligen anderen militärischen Requisiten der Filmtrilogie zum Gegenstand hat.[1]
Für einige Werke Tolkiens, darunter The Letters of J. R. R. Tolkien: Revised and Expanded Edition und Die Bovadium-Fragmente, verfasste er Vorworte.[2][3]
